Avon Power Stay Matte vs Hydramatic Shine: Which Lip Format Fits Your Look?

Choose Power Stay 16-Hour Matte Lip Color if the format you are looking for is a liquid matte; choose Hydramatic Shine if your starting point is a shiny bullet lipstick. That is the documented difference, not a promise that either will look better or last longer on every wearer. This guide compares the Philippine versions pictured in Avon's February 1–28, 2026 brochure, pages 56 and 58. Those offers have expired. It is a catalogue-based comparison, not a hands-on wear test.

Start with the finish you actually want

A matte-versus-shine choice is different from a colour match. For example, someone looking for a reflective lip finish should begin with the Shine section rather than choose a matte product merely because its swatch has a similar name. Someone specifically replacing a liquid matte should first check the Power Stay liquid version. Neither decision tells you which shade suits your colouring: finish, shade and application format are three separate choices.

The family name is not enough. The brochure also contains other Power Stay products, so write down the full words "16-Hour Matte Lip Color" when asking about the liquid version. Likewise, Hydramatic Shine is not Hydramatic Matte. A recommendation for a different product in either family does not automatically apply to the two versions compared here.

How much does the 16-hour claim tell you?

Avon presents the Power Stay product with a 16-hour claim and a consumer-use study involving 105 participants. The Shine page describes a hydrating hyaluronic core and a shining finish. These are different kinds of product statements, not the results of a controlled head-to-head test. We have not tested either lipstick, and the brochure does not establish a universal winner for comfort, transfer or performance after eating. Do not turn the name "16-Hour" into a guarantee for your own day.

Before choosing on wear alone, look for a test of the exact version and shade, with the application method and check-in times explained. A photograph taken immediately after application answers a different question from a photograph taken several hours later. A review is more useful when it makes that distinction instead of simply calling a lipstick long-lasting.

Do not compare grams with millilitres as if they were equal

The liquid is labelled 6 mL and the bullet 3.6 g. Dividing one pack number by the other would not tell you which contains more usable lipstick: one measures volume and the other mass. Nor does a larger pack figure prove more applications. For a budget decision, compare the current total price of each exact item and the format you prefer. A cost-per-mL calculation is useful between liquid products with matching units; it is not a fair shortcut for this particular pair.

There is also a version-checking trap: an indexed Avon Philippines product page for Power Stay Matte lists 7 mL, whereas the February 2026 brochure labels this range 6 mL. We use the brochure's quantity for this dated comparison and do not assume those listings establish an identical pack or formula. Confirm the quantity on the item being offered to you, especially when a seller uses an older product link.

A short checklist before you order

Save the complete product name, the shade name and its code from the same Philippine campaign. In the dated example above, Relentless Rose and Hydra Shine Mauvelous belong to different ranges; they are not claimed here to be colour equivalents. If you want a particular colour, ask to see a clearly labelled swatch of that exact version. Screen brightness and printed reproductions can make a catalogue colour look different, so the swatch is a starting point rather than a precise colour guarantee.

Finally, ask for the price and availability in the campaign you are ordering from. A February reference is helpful for identifying an item, but cannot confirm October stock or a current discount. Keeping those questions separate helps avoid ordering the right colour name in the wrong product format.
